We are pleased to inform you that Mrs Meena Ranka BDS, MFDS RCS(Eng), FDS(Rest Dent) RCS, Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, Specialist in Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Endodontics has joined our team here at the Mill Hill Dental Practice.
We are now taking private patients and patient referrals for Prosthodontics and complex restorative cases to see Mrs Ranka.
Mrs Ranka’s main areas of interest include fixed and removable prosthodontics, management of complex restorative cases including treatment of patients with toothwear (with a confirmative and reorganised approach), hypodontia (congenitally missing teeth), oral rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients and implant dentistry. Mrs Ranka has the experience of joint orthodontic-restorative treatment planning for treatment of patients with hypodontia and cleft lip and palate. She enjoys her work of restoring smiles and oral rehabilitation.
Mrs Ranka is a specialist in Restorative Dentistry including Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Endodontics. She qualified as a dentist in 1997 and completed her MFDS in North-East England in 2005. She commenced her specialist training in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool Dental Hospital and attained FDS (Rest Dent) RCS in 2012 from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mrs Ranka was appointed as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal Preston Hospital in July 2013 and was the Clinical Director of Dental Specialties from 2016 to 2018. She achieved clinical excellence awards for her work during this time in addition to a charitable grant from Rosemere Cancer Centre for treatment of head and neck cancer patients. She was the Clinical Audit lead and regularly chaired the Evidence Based Dentistry Forums at the Hospital. Her main remit at the hospital was oral rehabilitation of head and neck oncology patients.
Mrs Ranka is currently working as Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital since December 2018. She has set up the Restorative Service for this region, with her specialist interest in Head and Neck Cancer. She regularly attends courses and conferences for continuing professional development and has completed an Advanced Implantology course at the Branemark Institute in Johannesburg, SA. She has published papers in peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of the British Society of Prosthodontics and has been actively involved in Restorative Managed Clinical Network. At home, she is a busy mum and enjoys spending her time with her husband and son. She plays badminton and her hobbies include crafts, travelling and cooking.
